The Clipper City Challenge!

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th May saw some of the City’s top financial names battling it out on the water in the Clipper City Challenge.  Six top companies took control of 68 foot racing yachts, stripped out for round-the-world competitions. Described by one tired but happy participant as “a brilliant weekend and well worth the aches and pains” this annual event, organised by Clipper Events, this year raised an amazing £2,605 for Sail 4 Cancer.

Overall results (the lower the points the better)

  • Team Nomura sailing on CV 8 De Lage Landen: 12 points; Skipper: Juan Coetzer, Mates: Thomas Jefferies and Michelle Henderson
  • Team JP Morgan Bournemouth sailing on CV 5: 13 points; Skipper: Rich Hewson, Mates: Becky Block and Richard Burton
  • Team Legal & General sailing on CV 1 Edinburgh: 23 points; Skipper: Oliver Osbourne Mates: Simon Bradley and Tom Salt
  • Team Citi sailing on CV 2: 24 points; Skipper: Gareth Glover, Mates: Julian Watkins and Clare Butterfield
  • Team Standard Chartered Bank sailing onCV 9 Qingdao: 26 points; Skipper: Ian Conchie, Mates: Penny Wakeling and Russell Hallett
  • Team JP Morgan London sailing on CV 10 Derry – Londonderry: 28 points; Skipper: Mark Light, Mates: Emily Caruso and James Radley

Sail 4 Cancer would like to thank Clipper Events for organising such a great weekend and all those who took part for their generosity. The money raised will be used to offer respite to UK families living with cancer. Thank you!
