SURNU’s Liferaft Challenge

A group from SURNU (Southampton University Royal Navy Unit) are to spend 24 hours in a liferaft to raise much needed funds for Sail 4 Cancer.  They will start their feat of endurance at 4pm on 15th February, continuing until 4pm on 16th.

Liferafter Commander Robbie Darnton explains:

“We are all honorary Midshipman in the RNR attached to HMS Blazer, Southampton University Royal Navy Unit and as a consequence we go to sea regularly. Spending a whole 24 hours in a liferaft will remind us of how helpless it can feel to be stranded in a situation. Although we will actually be in a safe environment, I’m sure it will be easy to imagine what it must be like to be involuntarily stuck in a liferaft, miles from anywhere and in less pleasant, more uncertain conditions. We feel the cause is close to our hearts and the idea sounds like it could have some high points – although everyone’s main concern seems to be access to heads and bathrooms.  So please dig deep and sponsor us.
