Island Cruises Partners With Sail 4 Cancer

22 April 2008

For the first time, Sail 4 Cancer will be offering cancer patients the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing cruise. Leading UK cruise line, Island Cruises, will be providing discounted cruises for Sail 4 Cancer sponsored families who are living with cancer.

Island Cruises was founded as a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises and First Choice Travel PLC, each of whom own 50% of the company.  The company operates in Europe, the Caribbean and South America, aiming its products primarily at markets in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Argentina.

Patrick Ryan, Managing Director of Island Cruises said:

“Island Cruises is inspired by this opportunity to provide the patients and their families with a holiday of a lifetime. This is a wonderful cause and I hope that our trade partners and guests will join us in supporting this excellent charity.”

Graham Precey, Chair of Trustees at Sail 4 Cancer added:

“Everyone at Sail 4 Cancer is delighted to be working so closely with Island Cruises. Their generous help and support will create awareness about the work we do and provide hundreds of holidays for families living with this terrible disease.”

In additional support of Sail 4 Cancer’s water based activities, Island Cruises will be making charitable donations and holding sponsored trade events in order to engage our agent partners in raising awareness and additional funds for this great cause.

Other ways in which Island Cruises will be looking to support Sail 4 Cancer include:

  • Onboard collection bins for guests and crew to donate
  • Onboard charity events
  • Awareness of the charity with the Island Chat/posters
  • Awareness of the charity within the web and brochure
  • Voluntary guest contribution at time of booking
