British Airways Raises Over £1200!

12 August 2005

British Airways and its sailing club, The Silver Wing Sailing Club, has been raising funds for Sail 4 Cancer.  Called ‘Sail Aid’, this exciting event was held at British Airways’ Silver Wing Sailing Club in support of Sail 4 Cancer and Operation Happy Child.

The music festival, ran from mid afternoon (4pm) until late, with free entrance. In total, nine bands played and helped to raise over £630 for Sail 4 Cancer.

Organiser Nancy Jackson commented:

“The turn out was fantastic and we are very grateful to everyone who came along. The bands enjoyed the experience of playing to 300+ people and many have confirmed that will volunteer their time again next year. Raising so much money for our chosen charities was beyond our expectations and was made possible by the generosity of the dinghy club, British Airways and various other local businesses.”

Richard Groome, Trustee at Sail 4 Cancer added:

“We’re incredibly grateful to the team at BA for all their hard work.  This was a really great event and everybody had a good time whilst raising funds for two good causes, one of which was Sail 4 Cancer. Thank you!”
