‘5 Girls In A Boat’ On BBC Radio!

01 February 2006

The ‘5 Girls In A Boat‘ campaign has so far raised a staggering £8,000 for Sail 4 Cancer.  The five intrepid ladies took part in the Scottish Islands Peaks Race – a three-day adventurous yacht and running race where the team sailed 160 miles around the beautiful West Coast of Scotland and covered more than 60 miles of fell running, climbing a total of 11,500 feet.

The team has a vision to compete in adventurous yacht races to raise money for cancer related projects, Sail 4 Cancer was chosen as the chosen charity for 2005 along with the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

In recognition of their efforts, the ladies were interviewed on BBC Solent last week.   If any of you were lucky enough to have been tuned in to the Nicky Girdler show (at 11.00 am) you would have heard about the team’s adventure and their plans for this year. The team also marked the occasion with a formal cheque presentation to both Sail 4 Cancer and the Royal Marsden.

AND now that they have recruited a man into the team they will now be called ‘5 Girls And A Bloke‘ !!!!

Sail 4 Cancer wishes the girls good luck in their future plans and fundraising and would like to say a heartfelt thank you for their hard work in raising such a massive amount.

Thank you!
