Nora Erdelyi

to spend 24 Hours in a Liferaft

Nora Erdelyi

Nora Erdelyi from the Warsash Maritime Academy is preparing to brave the elements and experience what every sailor hopes they NEVER have to do for real - spend 24 hours in a liferaft.

On Friday 11th March a team of students from Warsash Maritime Academy (part of Southampton Solent University), including Nora, will clamber into their raft and commence learning at first hand just what it would be like to be cast adrift as their boat sinks behind them. But this challenge is not only a chance to enhance their studies, but a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for those whose difficult times will last a great deal longer than 24 hours - UK families living with cancer.

Nora says:

“I am really excited for any fundraising event, but I feel like this activity is going to be lot more challenging than any others I have done so far. Sail 4 Cancer is a great charity helping cancer patients and supporting their families by giving the opportunity to families to have a break from cancer. Spending 24 hrs on a lifeboat in cold and rainy England will be a challenging adventure, but it will be worth in hope of raising money and helping others. Fundraising for a cancer charity really motivates me, as mum had cancer, but going out and having fun was part of her daily routine. I really believe in supporting other families so please help me raise money, so more people living with cancer can go outside and enjoy a day without having to worry. Don’t forget that every little helps :)”
