Offshore Sailing Challenges.
In partnership with Sail 4 Cancer, Global Yacht Racing has opened the door to some of the world's most infamous offshore challenges for novices and sailing enthusiasts alike, taking on the best and the worst that the ocean can offer in its Charity Sailing Challenges. As a result, over £40,000 was raised in 2006 alone to help people living with cancer. Have you ever ever dreamed of rising to the challenge of racing across oceans and pitting yourself against tough competition, then find out what you are truly capable of. When you join Global Yacht Racing you will be competing onboard high performance racing yachts in the greatest international regattas and the toughest ocean races in the world. Need any encouragement... Learn a new sport: The challenge of learning something new has a wealth of positive effects on your morale and confidence. Even those with previous sailing experience will find their existing knowledge increased beyond recognition. Global Yacht Racing's team of professional instructors have a proven track record in race instruction and they will train, motivate and lead you to the highest level of achievement. Be part of a Team: This will be a personal challenge, but you will also be part of a team, making new friends and learning new skills. Fitness: Booking a challenge like this is a perfect opportunity to motivate yourself to get fit. From winch grinding to hauling sails around, you will have be prepared to work your passage. Global yacht Racing carries no passengers! Fundraising: Raising the money for your sponsorship can also be an enjoyable way to meet new people, whilst raising awareness for the charity you support. From organizing summer BBQ's and salsa nights through to car booting and cake baking, being creative and remembering to have fun is just as important as the challenge itself. Funding your challenge: There are two ways in which you can fund your challenge; Self Funder: With Self Funding you personally cover the entire cost of the challenge which includes a £150.00 donation to Sail 4 Cancer. This means that the charity receives a £150 donation plus every penny that you raise thereafter. Self Funding has no minimum sponsorship required although you are still encouraged to raise as much as possible for Sail 4 Cancer. Minimum Sponsorship With the option of Minimum Sponsorship you pay your deposit when booking the challenge and pledge that you will raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for the charity. You will need to send your sponsorship money to Sail 4 Cancer as you raise it, and at least 80% of the minimum sponsorship must be sent to the charity ten weeks before departure.
