Neil's Fastnet Challenge

Neil Goldsworthy

Neil Goldsworthy has committed to participate in the notorious Fastnet race this summer and will use this challenge to raise money for charity in the process. On Sunday 11th August, Neil will be on Lion Logic, one of 300 boats setting out on one of the world's ultimate sailing challenges, racing for 5 days on the 608 mile offshore course. In order to be allowed to compete in the race Neil has completed a number of training weekends and courses as well as 4 other qualifying ocean races on Lion Logic.

Neil will be raising funds for Sail 4 Cancer, a charity helping to improve the quality of life for UK families living with cancer through respite activities, treatment and research. Neil chose Sail 4 Cancer as it combined his love of sailing and his own personal circumstances. Neil signed up for the Fastnet race before he knew of his personal challenge related to cancer and attended the first training weekend in May having just come out of the hospital after surgery.

Neil comments: "Combining the challenges seems a natural choice for me and I am now reminded to take on these challenges when you can, as you may not have a choice to do them later"

Please take the time to sponsor Neil in his endeavours and give him your words of encouragement using the donation form below. Once the race is underway, you can track Neil's progress aboard Lion Logic here>
