Team Cupcakes & Cocktails take on the MOST gruelling challenges

Total Warrior - NOT for the faint hearted...
Total Warrior - NOT for the faint hearted...

Team Cupcakes & Cocktails are throwing themselves into some pretty scary challenges to raise funds for a cause that is very close to their hearts.

The team explain:

"This summer we are challenging ourselves to train for and compete in a host of excruciating activities to raise funds for Sail 4 Cancer. As a team we are running Total Warrior on August 6th; a 10k race with 30 gruelling obstacles. We will be battling ten tonnes of ice, a hundred tonnes of mud, electrocution and a human BBQ. We have been challenging ourselves individually too...Holly and Gill will be throwing themselves out of a plane from 12,000 feet, Caroline cycled 135 miles Coast to Coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth over three days 17th-19th June. Jon and Charlotte ran the Skye Half Marathon on the 11th June in times of 2 hours 4 minutes and 1 hour 55, despite injuries and midges!

Sail 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of sailing enthusiasts in 2001, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Sail 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of water based days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of sport (e.g. sailing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

"Why would you be so stupid, I hear you ask?! Sail 4 Cancer provides water-based respite days and holidays for families affected by cancer. They made a huge impact on Holly's family by organising an amazing holiday before Dave Greenhough, Holly’s dad, sadly lost his battle with cancer. After Dave had a lung removed in 2012 it was only a matter of time. Before the cancer returned with a vengeance, Sail 4 Cancer got in touch and offered him, his wife and two teenage sons the trip of the lifetime sailing the Baltic sea.

"Holly’s littlest brother had the hardest time trying to write his eulogy speech, saddened by only having 15 years with their dad. Without the wonderful opportunity provided by Sail 4 Cancer, the family wouldn’t have those perfect memories of two weeks of happiness at the end of Dave’s life to focus on. Which is exactly why the work Sail 4 Cancer does is so important. The family had been consumed with hospital visits, treatments and uncertainty for years. The trip took them away from the nightmare for a little while, throwing them into a life-changing adventure that they’ll remember forever.

"Many of us have lost friends and family to this disease, know people battling it, or those it has affected. Please sponsor us to allow more families and individuals to have this chance, and for this wonderful charity to keep providing experiences and support to those who are suffering. Thank you for the donations and support."

Love, Charlotte, Holly, Gemma, Caroline, Gill and Jon.
