BIKE vs BOAT 2017

Sail 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of sailing enthusiasts in 2001, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Sail 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of water based days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of sport (e.g. sailing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

Leaving Tower Bridge (London) on Saturday 15th July, a group of sailors on two boats and a group of cyclists will set off for Brighton in this unusual charity race.

On their boat, Sanhita Chaudhuri will be joining eight other sailors for the 140 mile voyage. In addition to fighting wind shifts and shifting tides, Sanhita's crew will have to navigate through the busiest commercial lane in the world... and some of it in the dark!

The BIG question remains unanswered though. Will the BOATS beat the BIKES to Brighton Marina? Or will the BIKES triumph???

Commenting on this challenge, Sanhita said:

“I am delighted to be using my yacht racing skills this July to raise funds for this fantastic charity. A few years ago I lost my beloved granddad to the disease within a few months of his first diagnosis and experienced first hand how devastating it is for family and friends. I am doing this race in his memory and those that I personally know who lost their battle against cancer. Sports makes a difference - it has in my life - let's make every moment we have of Life worthwhile. Thank you for visiting my page and your good wishes."
