Making the most of being the Wight Side of Fifty

Wight Side of Fifty - Graeme, Simon & Keith

Graeme Gowling, Simon Liley and Keith Vigar, otherwise known as "the Wight Side of Fifty" were letting themselves in for more than they realised when they took up cycling together earlier this year.

The guys all live in Storrington in West Sussex and see quite a bit of each other as they have kids of similar ages who are firm friends. They obviously took to the cycling as you can see from the photo - they had just completed a rather muddy mountain bike event. Having enjoyed their cycling so much, they are now moving on to take up the challenge of the Wightlink Wight Challenge triathlon. Training has started on all three disciplines; mountain biking, canoeing and running.

Graeme explains their choice of charity for this event, "I am very keen to support Sail 4 Cancer, since my family have been deeply affected by cancer. It is a most distressing time dealing with the condition for the affected individuals and close family members. Sail 4 Cancer is a great organisation, providing some support and relief for those affected. I very much hope my raised sponsorship goes someway to help you further. As my sons and I are also keen sailors, it is also apt for us to support your activity."

As for the team name, "the Wight Side of Fifty", Graeme adds: "As the oldest member at 49 years, I thought I should take advantage of this name whilst I can!"

Sail 4 Cancer wish team Wight Side of Fifty all the best in their challenge. Please give them your message of encouragement and sponsor them using the form below.
