"It would be so lovely just to have some time out, away from this illness, hospital appointments and treatment."
At Sail 4 Cancer we understand this feeling. When you are living with cancer, whether you are a patient or a carer, undergoing treatment or even in remission, everything seems somehow to focus on the illness. Just a day doing something different, being yourself again, feeling 'normal', can leave you refreshed and revitalized. When you have also tried something new and exciting it can be a huge boost to your confidence. It is for these reasons that Sail 4 Cancer take cancer patients, their families, carers and those recently bereaved on respite sailing trips.
Our respite programme for 2012 offers plenty of opportunities for people living with cancer to get out on the water. Whether you would like to spend time with family or friends relaxing in the fresh air, or if you would like to experience the exhilaration of wind and waves whilst trying a new sport, there is something for almost everyone.
We will have a variety of opportunities.
These trips are an amazing respite opportunity. A day spent with family and friends, focussing on something new and different. |
A fabulous opportunity for youngsters living with cancer to experience a confidence boosting adventure! |
Sail 4 Cancer are taking a crew to participate in a competitive sailing regatta to experience at first hand the thrills and exhilaration of competitive sailing. |
Families need a break away from the stress of cancer and to have some good honest fun, a fun packed day out on the water for family groups. |
This is a very popular option and we only have a very small number of places available each year. Please also consider the other options available. |

Sail 4 Cancer works with a network of Macmillan Centres, medical professionals and cancer support groups, who nominate families and individuals for our trips in the belief that it will help them through a difficult time.
Sail 4 Cancer also accepts nominations through this website, so if you know someone who has been affected by cancer then you can nominate them here. (You are also able to nominate yourself!)
Please note that all nominations through our website are presented to a medical board for referral and will require signed forms from an oncology professional.
