The Sarn Helen is the most ambitious off-road ride in Britain with an Everest's worth of climbing! Starting on the north coast at Conwy the team will travel over 200 miles taking in the beauty and leg busting ascents of Snowdonian, The Cambran Mountains, The Black Mountains and the Brecons before reaching the South Coast near Swansea. The guide book suggests taking 8-9 days to complete this epic ride however the team have set their sights higher and WILL complete it in 4.5 days. (See related website link on the right of this page!) The route is based on a roughly north-south 'roman' road will extract every last ounce of trail expertise, endurance and endorphin-enhanced enjoyment from the team as they take in the best and worst that Wales has to offer.
Starting on Saturday 23rd April the team will drive from their base in Kingsclere up to the North Coast of Wales and get straight out on the trail and will be tested from the off with a 1400ft (420m) climb. They will then complete the ride on the South Coast on Wednesday ready to get back to their jobs on Thursday and some much deserved chocolate eating!

Rich is no stranger to taking on such ridiculous challenges having completed the entire route of the 2009 Tour de France. Andy & Pete however have little experience of multi-day rides and will complete the ride as a relay helping to make sure Rich stays on track and to ensure that the support van is always close by. Andy's technical skills with the spanners will also provide reassuring however the team hope not to encounter too many breakages. Pete has prepared by both getting out on the bike and also partaking in regular Salsa dancing events!
The team will be raising money for the UK charity, 4 Cancer, in order to pay for a family affected by cancer to have a respite holiday in the UK. Please sponsor them using the online form below
