Having recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in student in Activity Tourism Management 22 year old Jamie and his friend Liam have decided to enter the Woodvale 2011 Atlantic Rowing Race. They have decided to call their challenge Oceans 2 and will be attempting to raise funds to help Sail 4 Cancer provide a respite for people living with cancer.
This race starts in December 2011 from the Canary Islands, ending in Antigua in the Caribbean. In 2005 another couple Liz O'Keefe and Richard Mayon-White also undertook the race on behalf the charity calling their challenge Row 4 Cancer.
The crew met through university studying Adventure Tourism & Outdoor Pursuits and Activity Tourism Management at the Scottish Agricultural College in Ayr, Scotland. Having listened to a lecture from Neil Wightwick in their first year of studies, a previous race entrant and outdoor enthusiast the race held a place in the student's hearts. A meeting with Neil in Glasgow quickly gave them the encouragement and the decision was made to go for it. Liam approached Jamie nearly two years later and next thing they knew they were entered into the world'''s toughest ocean rowing race and the toughest challenge of their lives.
