Carol Brant will be spending 24 hours in a liferaft on 9/10 November in support of Sail 4 Cancer!
Carol is 50 years young and is the PA to the MD & Letter of Credit Advisor at PSP Worldwide Logistics.
Sailor non sailor/ previous liferaft experiences? I am a non sailor, although a few years ago I went out on one of the Clipper Round The World Race yachts which was a good test for me regarding the sea and my on-going seasickness problem. With plenty of support from my colleagues I enjoyed the experience so much that sea sickness was not an issue that day. A friend of mine bought a boat this year and I have been out on that several times and again without seasickness...... perhaps I'm cured!
What will you miss the most in these 24 hours? Being an older lady I'm quite set in my ways and used to a routine. I will certainly miss my lovely cup of tea made for me when I wake up.
How do you think you will cope? I think I'm quite an easy going person, but will worry that the cold will get to me as being an older lady my bones feel the cold!
Whats your worst nightmare/worry of spending these 24 hours in a liferaft? This has to be the toilet issue... us woman are very private about our toilet habits! We're not like men where it is easier for them to pee! Oh and my seasickness!
You are allowed 1 luxury (not alcohol). What will you take? I'm not too sure at the moment... maybe a luxury food item or maybe a good book!
Why are you taking part in this challenge? I had the pleasure of meeting Geoff Holt (Wetwheels) at the PSP Southampton Boat Show. We saw how he brought a smile to the faces of people with disabilities by taking them out on the water. Sail 4 Cancer is a great cause. I am taking part in this challenge in the hope that people suffering from cancer can also enjoy themselves out there on the water.
